5 years of Yusuf.in !!

Well, it all did not start with the question "Where do you see yourself in 5 years from now?".

It started with me realizing that I need to have a space for myself on the Internet and the best way to do that is to register a nice domain with just Yusuf on it....and what do you know - I was lucky to see the availability of Yusuf.in with my favorite domain registrar - name.com (who do a great job in customer service!)

The next thing I remember is getting an account on name.com's RapidBlog wordpress blog hosting service that was newly introduced then, for quite a small amount per year with all data on the cloud. I could proudly say that I was a cloud computing campaigner.

The next 4 years of Yusuf.in were spent in the cloud, with not so frequent updates to the blog's theme, playing with wordpress plugins, crashing the blog once with a wordpress update, missing the renewal of the Rapidblog and following up with name.com's customer service to get it back up, trying to write reviews of every movie I watch, trying to get reviews of those that my friends watch, trying to get reviews of IPL (Indian Premier League) from cricketing fanatic friends of mine!

The most important change today is that Yusuf.in is now in Blogger which provides a free hosting platform J. It took a while to export from Wordpress to Blogger and now things are fine and dandy.

I always share my very first post - Welcome to Yusuf.in whenever I write a happy birthday blog.
So here we are, at this 5 years juncture, with a short look-back of what was published at this blog. No questions yet again for the coming years as well.

I'd like to join your hands in wishing this blog a very happy birthday and for the more to come!

Cheers.

The Wolf of Wall Street (2013) - Hollywood movie review

"I was stupefied by the brilliance of Leonardo DiCaprio and I really want him to grab an Oscar for this film. He plays the role of “Jordan Belfort” in this movie who is person who wants to live a luxurious life and ends up in the Wall Street to make a fortune with stock broking. The movie was very hilarious with many adult comical scenes and dialogues. The screenplay was a delight to watch and the movie gave me a glimpse of an American dream." says Yusuf.in's guest poster Jagdeep Kumar. Here's what he reviewed about this amazing movie...

The cast was well setup with the likes of Jonah Hill, Margot Robbie, Matthew McConaughey and Kyle Chandler. Johan Hill nailed the role “Donnie Azoff” with his comical sense and cool acting. The movie would be a shock to all DiCaprio fans since he pulled of comedy with ease and he was on fire with his brilliance and skills throughout the movie. I would like to emphasize on his acting skills since you would be surprised to see a scene where he has done something mind blowing which I haven’t seen any actor do it. I am not able to express the scene in words but you would know it when you see it. I couldn’t even imagine how hard it could have been for him to enact that scene. Margot Robbie played the role of “Naomi Lapaglia” and she was beautiful and too sexy. Her outfits complemented her beauty and she was mind blowing in the movie. The movie was at pace from the start with many hilarious and crazy moments but at the end there was a pinch lengthy scenes which were not essential. Overall the movie was awesome with some splendid work by the actors and it would have been possible without the director “Martin Scorsese”. Hats off to the director and DiCaprio for creating a master piece which surely will go into the books of one my favorite movies which I enjoyed watching.

I would rate this movie 4 star out of 5.  How much would you?

Things people did when Gmail went down

We all know Gmail and Google+ services went down for about 50 minutes yesterday ~1900 GMT. Personally, it didn't affect me in anyway. Official news from NDTV India - http://www.ndtv.com/article/world/google-fixes-gmail-after-brief-outage-around-the-world-475218

This morning, I looked up the #Gmail hashtag on Facebook and found hilarious, witty and desperate-to-get-back-gmail statuses. Here are some that I wanted to share here; Enjoy!

Social Media - A presentation

Today, I was looking at the files in my computer that can be removed to get some space on hard drive and I chanced upon this presentation from 2010 that I made on the topic Social Media - the history and how it is currently and how corporates can define and implement a social media strategy thereby leveraging it to their business - simple by reaching out to customers/future customers directly!

I tried using SEOSlides to display this over Wordpress but it's a bit tedious to do so - I'd have to export to PDF, upload to SEOSlides - but I require a license key (upto only 3 imports, duh!). So, I went over to Google drive and took to embedding the presentation here. Voila.

Here it is:
