Still configuring WordPress

Update on July 28 2010 – My blog just turned one year old and here is me wishing www.yusuf.in a very happy first birthday !! To celebrate this, my blog’s theme is getting changed into a very simple yet elegant theme called the “Paper Crunch”. But this still needs to be customized. So the title stays the same

The original post – The shift is here . Well, that was the tag line of my college’s symposium last year. That applies to me now. Not in my life though but with WordPress. Cut back to 3 years and there i was looking around blogger and was publishing with it over 3 years till now (at a blog which i thought was highly popular at college ( well, it wasn’t actually! )) and at my personal blog which was also hosted at blogger ( which were all free by the way ) . Over these three years, i used to keep reading and hearing that WordPress is better in many ways than blogger and the plugins feature would wrap up the proof of such a statement.

None the less, here i am with a WordPress blog for myself on a domain that rightly shows my name .  But truth to tell, WordPress needs heavy customizing to do and if you are lazy to do all the work, then the power of WordPress can’t be harnessed. I am looking at hundred’s of themes from yesterday and this one (dfBlog) which i have now, i am quite satisfied with it. Just finished with the header logo ( though it looks a little ugly! ). I still have a long way to go on customizing the sidebars, social buttons et all.

Update on July 29 2009 : I am done with configuring social bookmarks . Doesn’t look that bad. Thanks to social-bookmarks plugin!.
